About Us

Introducing Mise En Poix
From identity and content to space and experience, we bring the different elements of hospitality together to create a more considered and cohesive business.

Our Philosophy

We believe hospitality should have a distinct sense of identity. Trends can be a source of inspiration, but when the same aesthetics, materials, layouts, and visual language are repeatedly adopted, individuality gets lost. We’re interested in what makes each place unique: its history, surroundings, people, culture, purpose, and the experience you want to create.

Our Approach

Our approach is not about making a place simply look pretty. The visual identity, environment, and the way a business presents itself should create intrigue, communicate a reason to visit, and give potential guests a sense of what they might find when they arrive. The goal is not simply to generate attention, but to create the intrigue that brings new guests through the door and the foundation for an experience that keeps them coming back.

We also believe thoughtful design means knowing what not to replace. When existing elements work, we look for opportunities to preserve, adapt, and repurpose them rather than starting from scratch. Sustainability, to us, is not simply about materials or products; it is about making considered decisions about what is already there and finding new potential in it. This same thinking extends beyond the physical environment, allowing us to build on what works, rethink what doesn’t, and create something that feels distinctly its own.

Our Perspective

Our perspective has been shaped by over 15 years of experience in hospitality, over 10 years of photography and social media management, combined with a formal education in sociology, architecture, and interior design. This intersection of industry experience, visual communication, and spatial design informs how we approach every project.

A Letter From The Founder

Hi, I’m Lisa

Mise En Poix grew out of firsthand experience in hospitality, from various perspectives behind the scenes, on the floor, and as a guest. Over the years, I’ve noticed how often the people designing and shaping these spaces haven't had the opportunity to experience hospitality from within it .

There are small things you learn only by being there. How much room is actually needed behind a bar. Where the glass washer should go. How staff can move efficiently through a space during peak periods. Where guests naturally gather, what makes a space feel comfortable, and what makes it frustrating to work in. These nuances can be easy to overlook when you're not experiencing a space day to day. They're not always obvious from a floor plan or a moodboard, but they matter enormously to the people using the space every day.

At the same time, hospitality has become increasingly standardized. The same content, the same branding, and the same idea of what a “good” hospitality space should look like. Yet what makes a place memorable is often much more personal: the bar across the street where you go at the end of a long shift, the restaurant you and your family have been going to for years, the café where you had your first date. These places have character because they are shaped by the people, place, and community around them.

I created Mise En Poix because I want to help local and smaller hospitality businesses make the most of what they already have, while creating something that feels distinctly their own. My goal is to help them work better, look better, and create experiences that people want to discover, stay for, and come back to.

XO,
Lisa
